A picture is worth 1,000 words and the romantic and dramatic scenery of the Smoky Mountains offers many opportunities for visitors to take souvenir photos to cherish for a lifetime. If you are pressed for time or want to narrow down your choices, here are some suggestion for fantastic photo spots in Gatlinburg:
Space Needle Observation Deck
The sweeping vistas of the Smoky Mountains and Gatlinburg that you can enjoy from our observation deck right here at the Space Needle make spectacular backdrops for your Gatlinburg vacation photos. If you come back to Gatlinburg during different seasons, be sure to come back to the Space Needle and take a photo in the same spot. You might look the same, the backdrop may change from green to fall hues to snow!
The Village Shops
The Village Shops, one of several shopping malls in Gatlinburg, sets itself apart with its European village feel. In addition to awesome shopping, here you will find quaint brick pathways and plenty of fountains and Old World facades to pose next to.
There are plenty of waterfalls in Great Smoky Mountains National Park that make beautiful photo backdrops. (For your safety, stand near the falls, but don’t climb the rocks, which can be very slippery and therefore dangerous.)
Clingman’s Dome, the highest point in the Great Smoky Mountains at a height of 6,643 feet above sea level and a great place to take in a sunset, also offers stunning panoramic backgrounds of mountains and trees for your photos. Moreover, you will find quite a few scenic lookout points on the way along Clingman’s Dome Road.
