Happy St. Patrick's Day 2012, everyone! We love it here at the Gatlinburg Space Needle when St. Patrick's Day falls on a weekend; people are always in a more festive mood on weekends. So, here's to an awesome St. Patrick's Day, Gatlinburg style — make sure to wear green; you wouldn't want to get pinched.
If you're going to be in Gatlinburg to celebrate St. Patty's Day this weekend, we have listed below some St. Patrick's Day Gatlinburg events.
Okay, we admit that this isn't what most would expect on St. Patrick's Day, but the ClausFest parade beginning at 4 pm today, March 17th, is one of our favorite events of the year. Santa Clauses the world over will descend on Gatlinburg between traffic lights 5 and 10 for their annual parade on the Gatlinburg Parkway. If you have kids, we highly recommend bringing t
hem out to see all the Santas marching through downtown Gatlinburg.
ClausFest, in case you're wondering, is a nonprofit event where over 300 Santas, Mrs. Clauses, and Santa helpers meet in Gatlinburg every year to discuss strategies for being better Santas. Most of the events are private, but the parade, of course, and a Santa fashion show at the W.L. Mills Auditorium on Tuesday, March 20th is open to the public.
